AWC of B Meeting for May 2015

The May 2015 meeting will take place as follows:

Tuesday, 12th May 2015
Main Guard, The Garrison, Hastings, Christ Church, Barbados

10:00am - Coffee and Nibbles Social 1/2 hour
10:30am - Meeting begins

We will be focusing on the continuation of the presentation of the new club BY LAWS , which began at the April meeting.  Each club member was sent, via e-mail, a copy of the new bylaws and we will need to complete and vote on these at the May Meeting.

Voting will also take place for the slate of officers for the 2015-2016 club year.

A quorum of 25 members in good standing is required to be able to vote on both of these items.  Please make a point to be there.

May 2015

I guess it's one of those things.. again... that life gets in the way.. The last year has proven, in the opinion of this writer, to be a hard and interesting one for the American Women's Club of Barbados. It has also meant going back to work for me, as the News and Bulletin Editor , even if only for a brief time but it also meant not spending as much time in meeting my goals for this group, which basically were to get the newsletter out on time and to keep our internet and social media presence updated in a timely manner. Please have a look at the newsletters from October 2014 to May 2015 as they have now been uploaded on to this blog. Promises of being better over the coming months will be made and the running of our social media presence will possibly be turned over in the next few months to a few others who will help in making sure we keep our readers up to date with our AWC of Barbados activities etc.. Newsletters Update

While I do consider myself a "techie" of sorts, sometimes things I do simply get lost in the wash..  I will learn a format or how to do something and then.. well.. forget about it.  So after being prompted by a potential member of the AWC of Barbados, I decided to "find" the info on updating the Newsletters page..  The old way was incredibly time consuming , which is likely why I stopped posting them.. but I obviously was able to located how to upload a PDF file (which is how I do the newsletters) to the page..  and lucky for me, I had book marked it under my AWC bookmark.. and .. well there you go.. updated from February 2014 - September 2014..  Please note, the club goes on summer holidays for the months of July and August, which is why there is no Bulletin or Newsletter..

Apologies and "we will do better"

As they say, sometimes life gets in the way.   I have to apologize to our readers and say that.. well life got in the way for this blog/website.  I have been lax in up dating and will work this new club year to make that better.


Our next AWC meeting is Tuesday, September 9th, at 10:30am.  We do have a 1/2 hour social time from 10:00am to 10:30, so come early and have a chat.

It's a new club year, new board members, new fundraising ideas and we need you to help carry them out.  

Looking forward to seeing all our members at the meeting tomorrow at The Clock Tower Building/The Main Guard, The  Garrison, Hastings, Christ Church.

January 2014.. A New Year

Hello All. Thanks for taking the time to check out the American Women's Club of Barbados Blog. We ended 2013 with the death of 2 of our long standing members. Most unfortunate as each one still had lots of things to offer to the club and life in general.

 Our January Meeting is scheduled for the 14th January at The Main Guard, Garrison, Hastings, Christ Church. 10:00am for the social 1/2 hour and 10:30 for the meeting. Should be a great meeting. Sorry for the lack of information over the last year. I will work to make sure this sight stays up and running and that there is lots of great information posted on what we do and how you can be a part of the AWC of Barbados.

 Please note: I have changed the way you can view the AWC Newsletter. instead of adding photos for each page of the newsletter (this can be time consuming and cause problems.. ) I have found out how to add the PDF of the newsletter to the Newsletter page. Happy Reading!!

October Meeting and Dancing with Our Stars

October is upon us and our new club year is in full swing. The October meeting will take place on October 9th, at the Main Guard (clock tower building) at the Garrison Savannah.  10:00am for our social halfhour (tea and coffee will be served).  We are no longer providing food for these meetings, however, if you are able to donate savory or sweet dishes, please contact Murial Bushelle and advise her your willingness to bring something.  She may be covered for this month but contact her anyway.

We are having our biggest event we have hosted in the last few years on November 10th, 2012.  This is our DANCING WITH OUR STARS fundraising even to take place at The Plantation Garden Theatre.   Watch this page and I will place more information shortly.
